Welcome Friends!

My name is Charlene! I live in the beautiful state of Virginia with my husband and our sweet son. I have been married since 2016 and enjoy sourdough baking, coffee with my friends and diving into Scripture! For an overview of what this blog is about, please go here

I used to own my own dog training business, but when we had our son, was convicted on how important the call is to be in the home to raise our child, so we closed that chapter of my life and it has been a time of growth and deep appreciation in what the Lord has given to us!

My Favorite bible verse!

“Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?” And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, and I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.'”

Revelation 5:1-6 (ESV)

how I got Here

A heart for writing and for women in my circle

I have always enjoyed writing! I took two creative writing courses in high school and, as a co-lead for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, I enjoyed writing devotions for our Tuesday morning meetings to share with my fellow Christian students in our gymnasium. As a person who is not entirely adept at public speaking, I find that I am able to write more than I could ever speak to; I prefer to speak one on one with people than addressing large groups. Throughout the years I would occasionally write long form statuses on Facebook about various circumstances and then be encouraged by others to write, but I naively felt I had better activities to pursue. As I got older and convictions firmed up on various subjects, as I put myself under older and more mature women, I realized that there is nothing more important than the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the vocation of women that flows from that Gospel.

And, since we are to be obedient to Scripture in doing everything unto the Lord (1 Cor. 10:31), I need to be obedient in the gift that the Lord has given me in this area: the ability and desire to write longform for the edification of my sisters in Christ. It is my hope that this blog is first a tool for the ladies of my church, then to my friends and family and lastly to the women of my community. This little about me section isn’t supposed to a blog article, so I will not be getting into the deeply held convictions I hold, but those (Lord willing) will come in the future. I want to honor the Lord in all that I do and I want to be bold in the words that I write while also remaining humble in understanding that I am a relatively new mom to only one child and do not have all the answers. It is my endeavor, then, to faithfully point other women to the only source of truth: God’s Word.

Reading/Writing

So, thank you, fellow saint

for reading the things that i treasure so deeply.

It is my fervent hope that you will read the articles I put together and know that you’re not alone; that you may grow in your desire to follow the Lord through all the hills and valleys of life. It is my hope, dear sister, that we can celebrate how fearfully and wonderfully God made us as women.
