Welcome to Dust & Glory | Where Homemaking Meets Eternity

Dust & Glory – two words that are, on face value, antithetical to one another. Dust is mundane, ordinary and at times an inconvenience. Glory is, well, glorious!

The Role of the Christian Woman

As women, we find our highest calling in the role that God has called us to throughout His Word.  Every woman given to Christ by the Father is called to a life defined by truth. This applies whether she is married, single, barren, or chasing toddlers around all day. This truth is revealed in Scripture and then applied to what we may feel is ordinary. Such as the dust or the daily ins and outs of caring for our families and communities. We are called to love God first. From that, our love for others proceeds (Matt. 22:37-39). We are to obey His Word (John 14:15), seek after holiness (1 Peter 1:15-16), make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20), serve the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:7), and be devoted to prayer and the daily reading of His Word (Colossians 4:2; Psalm 1:2)

However, we shouldn’t be surprised that, in addition to the duties above, we have even more specific tasks as women. These tasks are glorious because they were given to us by our Father. They allow us to glorify His name. We are called to nurture our households (Titus 2:5) and raise our children in the fear and instruction of the Lord (1 Timothy 2:15). Furthermore, we support and submit to our own husbands (Ephesians 5:22), disciple younger women (Titus 2:3-5), give ourselves to serve the body (Proverbs 31:20), and continuously walk faithfully in our season (Proverbs 31:25).

The Purpose of This Blog

Dust and Glory go hand in hand. It is a glory for us to carry out the ordinary duties that the Lord has called us to. The truths of Scripture in these areas are undeniable. Even if application may look different depending on one’s time of life. We are wondrously equipped by the Holy Spirit to work within these rhythms. These rhythms are a design feature and not a bug to be “fixed”. Our Creator intentionally designed these lifelong rhythms for us.

This blog is for women wanting to live simply and biblically within their vocation. It is for those who desire to seek every Word the Lord has given via the Bible. It is for women who, even imperfectly, want nothing less than to glorify God and grow in daily faithfulness.

All Dust & Glory blog articles will be separated into four main groups:

1. Theology in Aprons: Sound doctrine strengthens and gives us a faithful worldview for every task. Tasks such as marriage, motherhood, hardship, homemaking and so forth. It also allows us to be sensitive to false teaching and the cultural confusion that is rampant. These will often be essays on practical application and books of the Bible I’m working through.

2. A Garden of Encouragement: These posts will serve to encourage embracing being a woman, just the way God made us. We’ll look at modesty, submission, homemaking, hospitality, child-rearing, and what femininity is or isn’t. Most of these will be devotion-esque.

3. Hearth and Habits: These blog posts will chat about different home routines, studying the Bible, and growing in spiritual disciplines. They will also cover meal planning, cleaning, and all things in the home.

4. Wisdom on the Shelf: I am a book lover and adore sharing great book recommendations with friends and family.

An Encouragement for Readers

Dust & Glory aims to encourage women to consume and rightly apply the Word of God to every aspect of their lives. We take great comfort in knowing the Lord has given us this work to do and has called it good! It is quite simply a gift from our Father to be feminine. We have been given the ability to turn dust into a glorious thing.

“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!” ~Psalm 90:17
